Sweet Pickle Pictures » Providing family, child, newborn, maternity and studio photography for Manhattan, Kansas and the surrounding areas.

If you’re checking out my site for the first time right now, you might have the impression that I’ve fallen off the photography bandwagon due to lack of recent posts but trust me that is not the case! Fall of 2013 was absolutely my busiest fall season yet! I had to step away from blogging and website updating for a bit and put my nose the ‘ol grindstone and focus on getting my clients (and my family!) taken care of through these last few crazy months. 2014 has definitely snuck up on me a bit, but I’m excited to get the new year started and will be working on a couple of goals for my business this coming year. Once things quiet down just a tad I will be updating this site with some new images as well as featuring some of my favorite sessions from the last couple months! I also will be offering a special on studio sessions which will be announced here as well as my facebook page. This will be my first full winter to take advantage of my warm and cozy studio space next door and I have new backdrops and fun ideas just begging to be used!

In the meantime, a Happy New Year to all my clients, past and present. Thank you for this crazy year we just finished! Thank you recommending me to your family and friends and for showing off your images. Those may seem like small things, but they help my little business grow in big ways! I am thankful to start another year doing this job that I love and I look forward to all the faces I will meet and photograph over the next 12 months. Here’s a fun little collage of (most) of the faces from 2013. I have the best clients ever!

As a small business that has been built solely on word-of-mouth, I am eternally grateful and indebted to my clients. I have been honored to watch my business grow bit by bit every year thanks to all the wonderful people that trust me to photograph their families and their important memories. So THANK YOU for supporting me! Thank you also for sharing your photos, leaving reviews and passing on my name to family and friends. While seemingly small gestures, they do HUGE things for my budding little business.

At the time of this sweet family’s session, I had decided that I had the WORST luck with Mother Nature. Days I didn’t have sessions would be beautiful with gorgeous sunlight, then I’d be prepping for a session and the sun would disappear, replaced by clouds, wind, rain…you name it. The location I chose to shoot this session is one of my favorites, but to truly utilize it you need sunshine! I crossed my fingers and toes and  thankfully Mother Nature finally complied and threw a little our way. It didn’t last long, but it was enough to make this family’s portraits really sparkle. I love the interaction and smiles we captured and it’s definitely one of my favorite sessions from this summer. Have a gander:)

Pulling out another favorite session to update the blog! I was given the privelege to work with this awesome family for the SECOND time this past spring and despite the weather being obnoxious (think lots of clouds, lots of wind and LOTS of hair) we were able to get some great shots for their incredible blended family. We even threw in a little “Brady Bunch” fun at the end with a collage I’d had swimming around in my head while planning their session. I loved how it turned out!

Here are my favorites from this adorable family session!

May through November is busy season for family sessions here at Sweet Pickle Pictures and this season I got to kick it off with the wonderful F. family! I had the honor of being their maternity and newborn photographer a few months prior while they were expecting their little girl, so it was a great honor to capture some family portraits for them.  Our session was a challenge of course (what family session isn’t? Especially with three little ones!) But we captured some really beautiful images and even got a little use out of my nearby daisy field before the flowers were gone!  I love the sweet (and realistic) interactions between them and their patriotic outfit choices were so perfect for their family! Soon after our session Dad left for a year-long deployment, so if you’re reading this post please keep him in thoughts and prayers! I’m wishing him a speedy and safe trip and I know his family can’t wait for him to back home again.

Check out my favorites from their session below! Considering a family session this fall? Contact me ASAP as fall dates fill up quickly!
